State: Child’s death at Speedway daycare due to lack of supervision

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – The Family and Social Services Administration is taking action in the recent death of a 10-month-old at Miracles and Blessings Day Care Ministry, Inc.

In a letter sent to the daycare, FSSA said that the facility poses an immediate threat to the life and well-being of children in their care. They also say that the child died due to the lack of supervision.

The daycare is now ineligible to receive a voucher payment from the Child Care Development Program.

According to the letter, the day care is entitled to a hearing where a judge would decided if the order should be voided, modified or continue it.

On April 7, the 10-month-old baby girl, Taliah Brigham, was found unresponsive at the daycare in a car seat. Police say the child was not breathing and daycare workers were performing CPR. Authorities also say there was one worker and 36 children in the facility.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office was still working to determine the exact cause of death.

A letter was also sent to the parents notifying them of the CCDF program ineligibility.
