Home opener for the Indianapolis Indians

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Baseball is back in Indianapolis.

It’s the 20th season at Victory Field, and the 114th season of Indians baseball.

The organization said it plans to make it the best year yet with a lot of events throughout the year.

The first game of the 2016 season kicks off Thursday at 7:05 p.m. against the Columbus Clippers. Gates open at 5:35 p.m.

First pitch will be thrown out by Governor Mike Pence and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett.

Also, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, you can get a free Chick Fil-A sandwich if you show up wearing Indians gear. The offer is only good for Thursday though.

The 6th annual Bike to the Ball Park from Sun King Brewery will start at 4 p.m., and Pence will make the 1.7 mile journey across downtown to the field.

In addition,  April 30 will be “Marvel Night: Captain America” night at Victory Field. Fans will not only get a bobblehead, but will also get a chance to own the same jersey the team will be wearing. The fundraiser will benefit Indiana National Guard Relief Fund. The jerseys will be sold via an in-game and live online auction.

The weather looks like it’s going to a be a warm Thursday, so fans are in for a great first night. There will be fireworks after Thursday’s game too.
