Lafayette shooting suspect has died

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The suspect accused of being involved in a Lafayette shooting has died.

According to Tippecanoe County Coroner Donna Avolt, Jordan Thomas, 25, died on April 10.

Thomas was accused of shooting a man in Dec. at a home on Schuyler Avenue. He was charged with aggravated battery and two counts of battery by means of a deadly weapon.

Medical records show the victim required surgery and suffered injuries to his hand, arm and chest.

Thomas bonded out of the Tippecanoe County Jail on March 31.

At this time it’s not clear how Thomas died. Avolt said his death was neither a homicide nor a suicide.

The coroner’s office is waiting on toxicology results to determine the cause of death.
