Driver dies after Wed. accident involving motorcycle in Vermillion Co.

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The motorcyclist who was seriously injured in an accident on Wednesday afternoon has died from his injuries.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. on State Road 63 in Vermillion County.

Indiana State Police reported Steven Huffman, 62 of Clinton, was stopped on his motorcycle on State Road 163 trying to turn left onto CR 150 E. That is when officials report he was struck from behind by a truck.

The truck was driven by Levi Gossett, 23 of Clinton. Officials reported on Wednesday that distracted driving involving a cell phone contributed to the accident.

Huffman had to be airlifted with serious head injuries to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Officials report he died from his injuries on Thursday.
