Gym in KY allows people, pets to work out together
RADCLIFF, KY (WISH) – Entrepreneurs in Kentucky came up with the idea to help pets and their owners get fit at the same time.
Norma Cooper co-founded the Lost Pound Fitness & Pet Center with Toshie Murrell. The fitness center is for both people and animals.
The pair started their business as a non-profit rescue shelter, but they said they became concerned over pet obesity.
“Every family has a pet it seems like and obesity is just as unhealthy for pets as it is for people,” Murrell said.
Cooper and Murrell also have a daycare and foster pets.
“Going overseas or they’re getting orders. Sometimes they just can’t take their pet,” Murrell said.
The fitness center will offer classes two or three nights a week. It opens in April.CNN contributed to this report.
