Ceremony honors kids who learned to love reading
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – 24-Hour News 8’s Dave Barras and Lori Wilson emceed a special event on Wednesday.
They were at a “I love to read” program awards ceremony.
They helped hand out awards to individuals and classrooms.
The event was a part of a WISH-TV initiative encouraging students to discover the joy of reading, and learn to do it daily.
1,200 minutes of reading for kids kindergarten through 3rd grade won a prize and 2,500 minutes for students in 4th through 8th grade.
The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis provided a reception following the ceremony. All winners received a prize pack from the Indiana Historical Society and a $100 gift card from Terry Lee Honda & Terry Lee Hyundai.
The winning teacher received a prize pack from the historical society and a $250 gift card from the Midwest Technical Institute.
