IMS, Allison Transmission celebrate Indy 500 heritage

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” is only 39 days away. On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is celebrating its shared heritage with Allison Transmission.

Larry Dewey of Allison Transmission and Doug Boles of IMS held a celebration on Wednesday to exchange symbolic gifts.

Allison played a key roll in founding IMS. It’s founder’s team won the race in 1919. He passed away in 1928.

The Borg Warner Trophy was on display for the event, along with the Marmon Wasp, the winner of the first Indy 500 in 1911.
