FW firefighters featured in calendar to help fight cancer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) An 18-month calendar featuring Fort Wayne Firefighters is helping raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The calendars cost $25 and begin in July. The calendar’s creator Doug Schenkel, said it’s not the stereotypical firefighter calendar, it’s something that can hang in any office.

Schenkel is a former firefighter and EMT. He’s also running to be the LLS Man of the Year. He said he hopes to sell 1,000 calendars, with the proceeds going to LLS to fund research for blood cancers.

The calendars can be purchased online, at Chop’s Steak and Seafood, Lassus Handy Dandy (starting April 25) and All American Shell and Marathon Gas Stations.
