Who killed William Rogers?

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Kimberly Frazier clutched her phone and scrolled through dated photos as she sat on her living room couch. Tears streamed down the mother’s face as she talked about her son, William Rogers.

“I don’t understand why this happened, he was good to a lot of people,” said Frazier.

On June 1, 2015, a passerby discovered Rogers’ body. Rogers had been shot multiple times in broad daylight. He collapsed in his driveway and died. The shocking discovery happened on the 5600 block Cheval Lane.

“There is no pain, no pain, like losing a child. None. None ,I swear. It’s hard to go on, I swear it is,” said Frazier.

Since Rogers’ murder, there have been no major leads in the investigation. Frazier described her son as a loving father who enjoyed music and taking trips. Despite his joy for life, Frazier admits the 25-year-old wasn’t an angel and that he served time in prison before. In September of 2015, two men fired shots at Rogers, just 10 months before he would die. Investigators looked for a connection between the shooting and the murder, but didn’t find a link.

However on the day of Rogers’ murder, a camera caught an image a silver Chevy Malibu with tinted windows leaving the crime scene. Detectives believe the driver of that car might hold the key as to who killed Rogers.

Frazier is confident that Rogers knew his killer, because his garage door was open, something he seldom did unless he was expecting company.

Lawrence police questioned Frazier’s friends, a girlfriend, and detectives traveled to Bloomington to follow up on information. The pursuit led to no answers.

“We still have things we are looking at, we had a family meeting here recently that developed into some new information, still following up with that, still following through,” said Lawrence Police Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff.

Woodruff, did not give specifics on what information his detectives are currently following up on, but he did add his department is committed to finding Rogers’ killer.

“We don’t have that piece of the puzzle that we need to put us on the scent of the track,” said Woodruff.

Police are currently taking tips from Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477). Until there are more details, Frazier will continue to make a plea toward the public for more answers.

“If you know anything, come forward. If it was you, you don’t you want your mother or father or family to go through this hurt and pain,” Frazier said.
