Evan Bayh campaigns for Hillary Clinton
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Evan Bayh made a campaign appearance on behalf of Hillary Clinton Friday.
Bayh is a longtime friend of both Bill and Hillary Clinton, and he’s been working for months to raise money for the Clinton campaign.
The former Indiana Governor and Senator voted early at the City County Building and cast his ballot for Clinton. He’s encouraging others to do the same.
After he turned in his ballot, he was asked if he hopes to play a role in the administration if Hillary Clinton is elected President.
“Public service has defined my life, trying to help other people make the most of their lives has been the most important part of my life,” he said, “and if there’s a contribution I can make to our state and country I would be pleased and honored to do that, but that decision will ultimately be up to somebody else.”
Bayh has been mentioned as a potential running mate for Clinton though others are getting mentioned more often. He was a finalist for that role in the Obama Administration.
He said he expects the nomination battle between Clinton and Bernie Sanders will go to the end of the primary season but says that the momentum is on Clinton’s side at this point based on a big win in the New York primary.
Bayh said it’s still important for Indiana voters take part in the process.
