Alleged Kokomo bank robber arrested states away

GULFPORT, MS (WLFI) – Law enforcement in Mississippi arrested a man authorities believe to be involved in a Kokomo bank robbery from the end of March.

After a four-week long investigation into the Key Bank robbery, Mykelti Robinson, 23, of Gulfport, Mississippi, was arrested Monday morning. Authorities said Robinson surrendered and was jailed. He faces a federal charge of bank robbery.

On March 29, Indiana State Police responded to the Key Bank on east Hoffer Street in Kokomo, Ind. When officers arrived, the suspect had already left with an undisclosed amount of cash. A search of the area was made but the suspect was not found.

Investigators said the man entered the bank and displayed a handgun. Police said he demanded money from a bank teller, who complied, and then the subject left on foot in an unknown direction.

Police are continuing to investigate.
