NWS: Tornado touched down in Greene County Tuesday

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The National Weather Service determined that a tornado touchdown just south of Worthington Tuesday evening.

A report submitted to the weather service says a small tornado touched down just before 7:30 p.m. about a mile south of Worthington. Damage to a barn was caused from the tornado. There were no reported injuries.

NWS says winds reached speeds of 85 mph. They determined the path was 75 yards wide and .1 miles long.

At 7:22 p.m., radar indicated a brief but noticeable area of rotation in the vicinity of where the tornado report occurred.

NWS says barns were damaged in the tornado, with some debris flying 250 feet.

Greene County was among several counties under a severe thunderstorm watch when the tornado occurred.
