Woman arrested for neglect after child found lost on Terre Haute streets on a tricycle

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – One little boy is safe and sound.

That is after someone found him alone near 19th and Crawford Streets in Terre Haute.

It happened around 9:00 Monday morning.

Police told 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WTHI, three-year-old Christopher was found riding his tricycle.

Authorities said the child could only give them a few details on where he lived. They said that made it difficult for officers to find his home.

“If you find somebody missing, adult or child for that matter, make sure we are notified so we can get on top of it. Between radio communications, dispatch, saturation with officers…with detectives, we have a better chance of finding where that person belongs than just one or two people, so we want to use that to our advantage,” Ryan Adamson from the Terre Haute Police Department told us.

Police said Jessica Barnett, 26, was responsible for watching the little boy.

She was arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent.
