Fort Wayne plans community art project involving beach balls

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – The city of Fort Wayne is launching a community art project that asks residents to paint oversized beach balls that will float on the St. Marys River and be hung from downtown bridges.

The city announced the “Faces of the Fort” art project on Tuesday. The balls will be inflated and given a base coat of paint on Wednesday. Dates for the community to paint an area on the beach balls will be announced.

The beach balls come in three sizes: 8 feet, 4 feet and 20 inches. Community artists will lead the art sessions, and dedicated space on the more than 200 beach balls will be provided for children, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities to paint.
