Indiana town marshal facing felony charges

CASS COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Cloverdales town marshal was arrested Thursday morning and faces three felony charges after police accused him of stealing nearly $2,000 from a not-for-profit organization.

According to Indiana State Police, 54-year-old Michael Clark of Cloverdale, Indiana, was arrested Thursday morning after surrendering to deputies of the Cass County Sheriffs Office.

He was served an arrest warrant and currently faces three felony charges of theft.

Police say they began investigating Clark after receiving information he was mishandling funds from the Friends of the Galveston Police Department Inc. a not-for-profit organization set up in 2008. Money donated to the organization was used to buy equipment for the Galveston Police Department.

Clark served as Galveston deputy town marshal multiple times, beginning in 1986. He most recently held that position in 2013, but resigned in March of that year. He is currently the Cloverdale town marshal.

Police say Clark made several unauthorized purchases for himself using the funds from Friends of the Galveston Police Department Inc. account.
