Missing man assumed to be on the Wabash River

FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI/WLFI) – Indiana Conservation officers are asking for help locating a missing man who they presume is on a boat on the Wabash River.

Officials reported Jason Underwood, 37, was reported missing by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office late Monday evening. Officials also reported Underwood has previously exhibited suicidal tendencies.

Underwood’s vehicle and boat trailer were discovered at the Attica boat ramp in Fountain County, along the Wabash River. The boat is described to be a 15-foot, 1979 Smoker-Craft of an unknown color, with a registration No. of IN1111BH on the side of the boat.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office along with Indiana Conservation officers said they are working the missing person’s case. Officials are searching multiple counties along the Wabash River – from the State Road 234 Bridge, east of Cayuga, Ind., to the Granville boat ramp, south of Lafayette.

The Vermillion River was also searched in its entirety, extending to the Illinois State line.
