Officer adopts dog found in construction site dumpster

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A dog left for dead has a new lease of life thanks to a Whitestown officer.

Two weeks ago, 24-Hour News 8 first told you about a dog abandoned in a trash dumpster in the Clark Meadows neighborhood.

A couple living there said they heard a dog whimper and immediately called the Whitestown Police Department.

Officer John Jurkash responded to the call and after days of taking care of the dog with his wife, they decided to adopt the dog. They named him Chance.

Officer Jurkash said Chance was very scared of humans at first, but it didn’t take long for their bond to form.

Jurkash said everywhere he goes, Chance is in arm’s reach of him.
