Video: Pregnant woman shot in head in California

PACIFICA (KRON) – A pregnant woman who was shot in the head Wednesday morning at an apartment complex in Pacifica is expected to be in stable condition and will not need to have an emergency delivery, according to police officials.

Police responded at around 8:11 a.m. to the Casa Pacifica Apartments located at 1060 Terra Nova Blvd on a report of a gunshot heard and a victim screaming.

When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old Pacifica resident, Marissa Johnson, with a gunshot wound to the head. The woman was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.

An acquaintance of the victim said that the woman was pregnant. The woman works as an assistant manager at the apartment complex for seniors.

Police are searching for the suspect, Ricardo Colindres, a 25-year-old transient. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

Police said the suspect is the victim’s ex-boyfriend. He is accused of showing up at Marissa’s place of work, confronting her when she showed up, and trying to kidnap her, but when she refused to listen, police said he got violent.

Authorities said the unborn child is OK.

Colindres is described as a Hispanic male, 5’-5″ tall, 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Colindres was last seen in a 2003 Silver Toyota Camry, CA plate #6CGN644.

People familiar with the two said 25-year-old Colindres is not the father of Marissa’s unborn child. Back when Marissa ended the relationship, the suspect didn’t take it very well.

Police say Colindres is a transient that frequents Brisbane.

Nearby schools, Terra Nova High School and Ortega School, were put on lockdown at around 9:30 a.m., according to school district officials. The lockdown was lifted about an hour later and the schools were put on “secure campus” mode.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Pacifica Police Department at 650-738-7314, or 911. Community members are cautioned not to approach Colindres if seen as he is considered armed and dangerous.
