100-year-old time capsule set to be opened in Parke County

TANGIER, Ind. (WTHI) A 100-year-old time capsule is ready to be cracked open in Parke County.

Back in 1916, the students and faculty of the Tangier Community School House filled the time capsule and sealed it.

The community will have a vault-opening ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on May 21.

It will take place at the Tangier Community Building.

The Rockville Tribune Newspaper covered the event back in 1916. The original article said the vault contains things like a photo of the 1916 graduation class, lists of community leaders, newspaper articles, and coins.

The event will be hosted by Dick Crum, also known as Dr. Dirt. He is originally from the Tangier area.

The ceremony will also include a flag ceremony, music and refreshments.
