Aramark employee arrested for trafficking drugs at Pendleton Correctional Facility

PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) – An Aramark employee was arrested early Friday morning at the Pendleton Correctional Facility (PCF), after an officer found three packages containing unknown substances in his pants.

Police said during the facility’s routine search, an officer felt a large lump in Charles Gish’s pants. Indiana State Police were contacted and reported to the facility.

Police said Gish was transported to the Indiana State Police (ISP) Post, where he was interviewed by ISP and a PCF Information and Intelligence Officer. Then, he was transported to the Madison County Jail.

Gish was booked on:

  • Four counts of trafficking with an inmate a controlled substance, Level 5 Felony
  • One count of trafficking with an inmate tobacco, a Class A Misdemeanor

Police said the incident is still under investigation in order to determine which offenders, or any others, who may have been involved in the trafficking.

“The confiscation of illicit substances found on a contractual staff member is a constant reminder of the importance of vigilance and consistency by staff when searching other staff members. I am personally disappointed that a person employed at this facility would put our staff at risk by trafficking with an offender. This is a win for our honest staff, who work hard in preserving the safety and integrity of our facility. We appreciate the quick response from the ISP Detective Bob May and Hubert Duncan and the diligence on the part of Sgt. Hurt and Capt. Spurgin,” stated Andrew Cole, PCF Assistant Superintendent.
