Man driving 29 mph on interstate stopped, arrested for OWI

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY (WISH) – One man, who was driving more than 40 miles under the speed limit, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded a call of a possible drunk driver on I-65 northbound in Bartholomew County around 2 a.m. Friday.

It was at that time, the deputy noticed a vehicle traveling 29 m.p.h. in a 70 speed zone. The car was also discovered crossing the center line and braking for no apparent reason.

Police said the responding deputy stopped the vehicle at the 68 mile marker. During the initial investigation, a number of beer cans were found in the driver’s area inside the vehicle.

Also, the driver, 46-year-old Robert Mills, exhibited several signs of impairment.

He was then arrested and now faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence.

Mills has since been released on $5,000 bond.
