Two dead in 38th Street shooting; police believe murder-suicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two people are dead after a shooting on Friday evening.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 3000 block of East 38th Street, just west of Keystone Avenue. The shooting happened around 8:15 p.m.

Initial information from police indicates it may be a murder-suicide case.

IMPD said a family member went to check on a woman at the house and found the woman and a man dead. Police have said the man and the woman were a couple, but have not stated the exact details of their relationship. Police do believe that it stemmed from a domestic violence dispute.

This would be the second murder-suicide in Indianapolis of the day. Earlier in the day Friday, a suspect in a homicide investigation fatally shot himself.
