VIDEO: Violence erupts at California GOP convention ahead of Trump speech
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) A physical confrontation erupted between Donald Trump supporters and protesters Friday morning at the states GOP convention in Burlingame.
The controversial Republican party presidential front-runner is scheduled to kick off the two-day event at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport at 1333 Old Bayshore Highway in Burlingame.
Protesters clashed with a supporter who was dressed in Trumps signature red baseball cap emblazoned with the words Make America Great Again. One of the protesters is caught on video snatching the hat off the mans head.
Burlingame city officials have called on dozens of police officers from agencies throughout San Mateo County to help with security. Trumps campaign events are attracting large, and sometimes violent, demonstrations nationwide including Thursday nights raucous rally in Orange County that led to 20 arrests.
24-Hour News 8’s sister station, KRON, was at the scene and reported skirmishes between both sides.
