1 dead after vehicle hits traffic signal box

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A man is dead after crashing his car early Monday morning.

It happened at the intersection of E. Coliseum Blvd. and Parnell Ave. around 2:45 a.m.

Police said a man was driving west on Coliseum before leaving the road and slamming into a traffic signal box at the north-west corner of the intersection.

The man was pinned inside his car and had to be pulled out by first responders. He died at the scene moments later.

Police did not know what caused the man to drive off the road, as of Monday morning.

Traffic was restricted around the area while crews cleaned the crash up.

The incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Allen County Coroner’s Office.
