HUD awards over $428K for local Indiana homeless programs

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded more than $428,000 in grants to five local homeless housing and service programs across Indiana.

The Continuum of Care grants to programs in Bloomington, Corydon, Kokomo, Muncie and South Bend build upon nearly $16 million in funding HUD awarded throughout Indiana through a first round of funding in March.

HUD encouraged applicants to submit projects that were based on research-driven approaches and supported the nation’s goals to prevent and end homelessness. The agency says the new projects will provide permanent supportive housing and rapid re-housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness.
