Purdue to host national champion Villanova in Gavitt Tipoff

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – Purdue will host defending national champion Villanova on Nov. 14 in the first game of this fall’s Gavitt Tipoff Games.

The full schedule between the Big Ten and Big East schools was announced Tuesday. The series is played in honor of former Big East founder Dave Gavitt.

Coach Matt Painter issued a statement saying it will be a good early season test of how the Boilermakers stack up against quality competition.

The Boilermakers also will face Arizona State in the Jimmy V Classic in New York City and at the Cancun Challenge after taking a 10-day trip to Spain this summer.

Butler will also play in this year’s Gavitt Games, hosting Northwestern on Nov. 16.

Indiana is not part of this year’s event.
