500 Festival officially kicks off month of May
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A public event was held Wednesday afternoon to officially kick off festivities around the city leading up to the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
The celebration started with an IndyCar leading the Chevrolet festival cars to the south side of Monument Circle.
Mayor Joe Hogsett was on hand for the event, along with players from the Indy Eleven.
The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon takes place Saturday morning.
The 100th Indianapolis 500 is Sunday, May 29.
