Hockey game to raise funds for families of Koontz, Buckley

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Two public safety hockey teams will play to raise money for the families of Deputy Carl Koontz and Sgt. Jordan Buckley.

The Indy Badgers public safety team will host Fort Wayne’s Freeze police team at 6:30 p.m. May 7 at the Indy Fuel Tank on East 126th Street in Fishers.

Admission is $5 and all proceeds will benefit the families of Koontz and Buckley. Donations will also be accepted.

The facility is donating ice time and both players and referees will participate without pay. Local businesses have also donated items for a silent auction and raffle.

Koontz was killed and Buckley injured while serving a warrant in March. Both served on the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.RELATED:
