Memorial ceremony honors fallen officers

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police officers came together Wednesday evening to honor fallen heroes at the 35th annual Hamilton County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.

It was a somber event, but a special time for law enforcement to remember those lost.

Officers from Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville, Fishers, and Indiana State Police attended the ceremony.

Major Lee Goodman has been an officer for 30 years and said the event is very important for families.

“I think it just gives them comfort to know that they are being honored still and not forgotten,” Maj. Goodman said.

Maj. Goodman remembers the last fallen trooper was Michael Green in 1993.

“It was a solemn time for all of us. Hearts were saddened and you hate to see that happen, but we all know that’s part of our line of duty,” Maj. Goodman said.
