Brawl over boyfriend ends with 2 women shot

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Prosecutors have filed charges against a 21-year-old woman who is accused of shooting two people in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

The shooting was reported Thursday around 3:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Northeast 118th Avenue.

When officers showed up they saw a man carrying a woman. According to prosecutors, the woman had been shot in her lower right leg. As police were responding, they could hear her crying out for help.

A second woman, about 45 minutes after the shooting was reported, was dropped off at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her foot.

The woman who had been shot in the foot told detectives that she and Sade Massey, the accused shooter, have had a long standing fight over a boyfriend.

According to court documents, there was an altercation in the apartment where Massey yelled out she was going to kill someone and grab a gun and started shooting.

There was a fight over the gun.

Inside the apartment, detectives with the Portland Police Bureau’s Gang Enforcement Team found two spent 9mm shell casings, a live round and a bullet hole in the wall.

Massey turned herself into Central Precinct early Friday morning.

She was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

She is charged with first-degree assault with a firearm, second-degree assault with a firearm, and two counts unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm.

Massey appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Friday afternoon and was arraigned on the allegations.

She will be back in court later this month.

The two women shot are expected to fully recover, police said.
