Reserved seating sells out for epic Indy 500 race

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – “The eyes of the world will be focused on Indiana in May,” Governor Mike Pence said after the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced that their reserved seats were sold out.

IMS officials say it’s a major milestone for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

IMS announced the sell out on Friday on the steps of the Indiana Statehouse accompanied by the Borg-Warner Trophy.

“Every Indianapolis 500 is special, but the buzz surrounding the 100th Running has been building for nearly a year, ever since the checkered flag fell on the 99th,” said IMS President J. Douglas Boles. “Our fans are the best in sports and their incredible support of this year’s race will make it a truly historic day for ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”

Fans in Indianapolis are already showing their support for the epic race and the momentum stretches to all 92 counties. From race themed parties and the raising of 500 flags. IMS said the spirit of the 500 has been a spectacle in itself.

With the added attention to this year’s race, IMS is encouraging fans to start their race routines at least two hours earlier than previous years.
