Male displaying handgun reported on Indiana State University’s campus

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Officials say a male displaying a handgun in the area of 10th and Spruce streets was reported to Indiana State University Public Safety.

ISU officials sent out a public safety advisory Monday morning. It said an employee was approached by a male looking for a person named Mike. This male suspect was in a dark blue, estimated 2004 Chevrolet Impala that also had a female in the passenger seat.

“It was believed the suspect thought the employee was ‘Mike.’ Once the mistake was discovered, the suspect apologized, re-entered the car and left the area,” the public safety advisory stated.

Officials believe this suspect has left campus. They believe the incident happened around 6:15 a.m. but was not reported until 7:30 a.m.

The male suspect is described as white, 5’5,” heavy build, dark hair with multiple tattoos on his arms. The only description given of the female in the car was that she was also white.

Public Safety is asking if anyone has any information to contact the ISU Police Department at (812) 237-5555 or the THPD at (812) 244-2200.
