Man fatally shot while riding in car on I-70

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police are investigating after a man shot and killed on Interstate 70 on Sunday night.

Police say someone fatally shot the man while riding in a vehicle, driving westbound on I-70 near Cloverdale and exit 41.

Police say the vehicle was traveling from Columbus, Ohio to Missouri.

Mario L. Edwards Sr. was sitting in the back of the vehicle when he got in an argument with another passenger.

Police believe that’s when he was shot in the torso.

Around 9:50 p.m. the people in the van dropped Edwards, and a witness to the hospital and then immediately left.

Doctors were not able to save Edwards.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, police found the van on State Road 240 near Greencastle.

Police arrested 18-year-old Markus Yeanay on a preliminary charge of murder.

Officers also arrested 21-year-old Stefon Woods for possession of cocaine, but he doesn’t face any charges in connection to the shooting at this point.

Police believe all four people involved are from Columbus, Ohio.

The investigation is ongoing.
