Female charged with armed robbery, officials report she set the victims up

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – An 18-year-old female is facing two counts of armed robbery after officials report she set up a meeting where two males were robbed at gunpoint on May 1.

A Terre Haute police officer was called to a home on Locust Street to speak with the two male victims who reported they were robbed.

The victims said it happened near north 17th Street and Liberty Avenue where they were supposed to pick up female friends. One of the victims said he had been communicating with ‘Santanna Marie’ on Facebook to meet up and go to a hotel with other females.

He said when they got to the intersection, three females got into the car and one took the keys from the ignition and ordered them to give them their money. When the males refused, they told police the females yelled for help. That is when the victim said three black males came from ‘no where’ and struck them.

The victims said the males had two firearms. Both male victims had their wallets and a cell phone taken.

It was later in the shift that the same THPD officer responded to a noise complaint at a house on 1st Avenue that was having a loud party. The officer reported several subjects took off on foot, but one of the subjects still inside the home was identified as ‘Santanna Marie.’

While officers were attempting to speak with Santanna, she told officers to “Just take me to jail. I already know what this is about. Just put me in handcuffs and take me to jail.” She also told police “I won’t snitch. I’m not a snitch.”

Officers repeatedly asked her to stop talking until they could advise her of her Miranda Rights, as they believed she was incriminating herself. She then replied with, “How’s this for incriminating myself? I did it! I took the money and spent it! There – now I don’t have to tell on anybody. I just confessed.”

Santanna Campbell was taken to the Vigo County Jail on two counts of armed robbery. Her court date is set for August.
