3 charged after Indy, Lawrence convenience store robberies

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Three people have been charged after two armed convenience store robberies Sunday.

Edward Chandler, Jr., 19, Marqueta Holloway, 18, and Amir Sanders, 23, were arrested for the crimes.

The first incident happened at the BP gas station near Brookville Road and South Post Road in Indianapolis. Security video shows two people with bandannas over their faces barge into the gas station at 11:06 p.m.

The cashier refused to open the door to let them behind the counter, according to store manager, Gurpeet Singh. The suspects each fired once before running away, but the shots were blocked by bulletproof glass.

Police arrested a third suspect who detectives believe was driving a getaway car registered to one of the suspects’ family members.

The second robbery happened just before midnight the same day in Lawrence. Police said they caught two people robbing the Village Pantry on North Franklin Road. Detectives said the suspects wore bandannas over their faces. Officers found two loaded handguns, one of which was reported stolen to IMPD last year.

The three were charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping, four counts of criminal confinement and one count of attempted armed robbery, which are all level 3 felonies.
