Arrest made after high speed chase; officials report vehicle was stolen

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – At least one person is facing charges after an early morning police chase in Vigo County.

Police said just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Terre Haute city police tried to stop a pickup truck that was speeding in the area of 13th Street and Fourth Avenue.

Police said Justin Reedy, 28 of Terre Haute was the driver of the pickup truck and refused to stop. They said he led them on a chase down several streets, including Brown, Maple and Haythorn. At times the driver ran stop lights and drove the wrong way down one-way streets, while reaching speeds up to 100 mph.

The chase ended in northern Vigo County with a crash on Roberts Road, which is just a little south of Burnett. A woman in the car was taken to the hospital for head injuries, and Vigo County dispatch reported the Dodge Ram pickup turned out to be stolen.

Reedy was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 2:45 a.m. on multiple charges including:

  • Auto theft
  • Resisting law enforcement
  • Driving while suspended
  • Reckless driving
  • Operating without ever obtaining a license

Reedy appeared in court Wednesday morning where his bond was set at $35,000 with no 10 percent. His next court appearance is set for early next week.

Court documents show Reedy was previously on parole.
