Man arrested after ISP finds 9 kilos of cocaine in his car

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man is in jail after a traffic stop led to his arrest.

22-year-old Bertin Mendoza of Chicago was driving on I-70 eastbound when an Indiana State Police officer saw him driving too close to another car.

Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, ISP officers made a traffic stop.

According to the release, during the traffic stop the officer observed “indicators of possible criminal activity.”

After a canine search, officers located nine, individually wrapped kilos of suspected cocaine hidden in the rear of the vehicle.

Mendoza faces preliminary charges of possession of cocaine and dealing cocaine.
