Search continues for Illinois man wanted in police shooting

DELWOOD, Ill. (AP) – Illinois State Police say a suspect they’re searching for in the shooting of a police officer has changed his appearance.

State police say in a Tuesday evening release that 34-year-old Dracy “Clint” Pendleton of Bellflower has shaved his beard and trimmed his hair. Police say they’re looking for Pendleton in northern Pope County. Pendleton was last seen Monday at about 9:15 a.m. He’s wanted in connection with the shooting of a Mahomet officer on Saturday night. The officer was struck in the arm.

Police say it’s possible Pendleton suffered a gunshot wound to the neck stemming from the Saturday shooting. They say he fled the Champaign County shooting in a truck. A Champaign County judge has issued a warrant for his arrest.

Authorities have called him armed and dangerous.
