ISP: Charges pending after car slams into house injuring 2 passengers

 VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Three people were hurt after a crash in Vigo County Wednesday night.

It happened when a car crashed into a house in west Terre Haute before 6:30 p.m.

The house is located at U.S. 150 at Libertyville Place.

Indiana State Police said Mark Downing, 31 of West Terre Haute, was traveling north on U.S. 150 when he lost control, left the road on the right side and then hit the house.

Officials report Downing’s mother sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Downing’s three-year-old child was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

ISP reports the child was in the back seat and not in an approved child restraint seat. The child was taken to Union Hospital for minor injuries.

Downing was cited for an open container violation and child restraint violation.

Officials reported additional alcohol related offenses are pending as Downing had a BAC of .22 percent.
