Shooting victim dies en route to hospital

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said a person who was shot on the east side has died.

According to police, they responded to a shooting in the 4200 block of North Emerson Avenue near East 42nd Street.

Police said a male victim was shot while being driven in a car. He was transported to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital with a faint heartbeat, but died while en route.

That man has since been identified as 27-year-old Carl Chislom.

A female driver was uninjured and drove them both to the Citgo gas station where they were located by officers.

IMPD believes the shooting occurred on Arlington Avenue.
