Many strut with their mutt

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)  – Thousands of people had a “dog-gone” good time Sunday morning at Garfield Park for the 13th annual Mutt Strut.

The 1.2 mile walk is the biggest fundraiser for the Humane Society of Indianapolis, with a goal of raising $400,000 to help take care of the animals.

Volunteer Joe Kaiser said, “Of course, we operate on donations and fundraiser like this and grants. And this raises a lot of money for us to work with the animals.”

This is the first year the Mutt Strut was held at Garfield Park, as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been home to Mutt Strut for the past twelve years. IndyHumane said having the walk at Garfield Park helps shine the spotlight on one of Indianapolis’ up-and-coming neighborhoods.

Each year, approximately 7,000 people and their pets attend Mutt Strut to share in the fun and excitement for the great cause of supporting Indiana’s largest nonprofit animal welfare organization.
