3 people escape mobile home fire on city’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Three people escaped from a burning mobile home on the city’s west side Monday night.

The Wayne Township Fire Department responded to the fire around 11 p.m. in the Garden City Mobile Home Park located in the 4900 block of West Rockville Road.

Crews put the fire out in approximately 15 minutes. The fire did not spread to any other mobile home.

“One of our engines was here just a few trailers away on another call for a medical emergency and received a report of a trailer fire just right down the street,” Wayne Township Fire Captain Michael Pruitt said.

The investigation now turns to the cause of the fire.

“We do know there was a domestic prior to the fire, but we don’t know if that led to the fire occurring, but our investigators are here working on that,” Pruitt said.

Crews on scene did not release an estimated cost of damage from the fire.
