Before you trade in your cellphone, here’s how to properly wipe it

 SAN FRANCISCO (WISH) – Before you sell or donate your old smartphone, hear what mobile security experts said about people not properly wiping their devices before handing it off, leaving pictures, videos, and even email log-in information accessible to the next owner.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, KRON, mobile security researchers at Avast bought used smartphones from four different cities, then they ran the phones through a simple data scrubber software program that anyone can download from the internet for free.

The information they were able to extract was shocking.
