Senior prank leads to thousands in damage at Tenn. high school

DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Nearly a dozen students at Dickson County High School were reportedly involved in a senior prank that school officials say went too far.

The gym was trashed and walls were written on. While most of it has been cleaned up, some of it is still visible.

“While it may not be serious damage, as one might define serious, it is costly to take graffiti from walls,” said Danny Weeks, Director of Dickson County Schools.

“It is costly to repair the places where the graffiti was taken from, and it’s also costly to repaint those items,” Weeks added.

The exact cost is not yet known, but the number is in the thousands of dollars.

The students responsible will have to pay for that.

“We will definitely be seeking restitution for that,” the superintendent said.

Weeks told WISH-TV’s sister station WKRN he doesn’t think the students intended to cause this much damage, but it’s a good reminder that what starts as a prank could have serious consequences.

Dickson County High School graduation is this Friday. The students involved in the prank have to get back into good standing with the school by then to take part.
