IMS officials encourages fans to arrive early to Indy 500

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) –  Officials with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway met Wednesday to talk about race day. They said with reserved seats already sold out, they are expecting a large crowd.

IMS officials said fans need to plan ahead and get to the Speedway earlier than normal on the day of the race.

Gates open at 6 a.m., following the traditional cannon blast. The fan Midway will also be open at 6 a.m.

The Borg-Warner Trophy March to the Yard of Bricks starts at 8 a.m. There will also be flyovers, military tributes, and Josh Kaufman will sing Back Home Again in Indiana.

Darius Rucker will perform the National Anthem, and then Mario Andretti and country singer Keith Urban will team up for the “Fastest Seat in Sports” ride.
