LPD arrest 2 in human-trafficking incident

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Two men were arrested in Lafayette following an investigation in a human-trafficking case.

Lafayette police were called to a reported disturbance Saturday on the 2700 block of Underwood Street. During the investigation, officers said a victim of human-trafficking was found.

Two days later, Lafayette police arrested two out-of-town men allegedly connected to the case.

Around 10 p.m. Monday, Cornelius Maurice Thompson, 33, of Chicago, Illinois, was arrested in the 4200 block of South Street. Police also arrested Elyvin Cortez Jackson, 30, of Conway, Arkansas, at the corner of Sixth and  Salem streets.

Both men were taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail. They both face a charge of sexual trafficking of a minor, which is a Level 3 felony.

The investigation remains ongoing.
