Man knocked unconscious, robbed on Monon Trail

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Monon Trail user was knocked unconscious and robbed of his bike late Monday night, according to Indianapolis police.

The unidentified man was attacked as he was walking his bike on the trail through Broad Ripple.

Police only have a vague description of the suspect.

Despite the attack, IMPD North District Commander Christopher Bailey reassured the public that the Monon Trail is safe.

“[There are] a few incidents a year, [but] over 800,000 people use this 10-mile trail” Bailey said.

To help cut down on crime, IMPD has installed cameras along the trail. Police also advise users to avoid traveling alone at night.

If you know anything about this attack, call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS (8477).
