Special guests take ride of a lifetime around IMS

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It was a special day Wednesday as three race fans had the chance to take a two seater ride around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Russ Van Treese will be attending his 90th Indianapolis 500 this year. Wednesday he got to see the speedway from a totally different view as Mario Andretti drove him around the track.

In 1993 Ricky Calhoun lost vision in both eyes. Prior to losing his sight, one of Calhoun’s hobbies was dirt track racing. Thanks to a donation from the Indy Racing Experience to Bosma Enterprises, which creates opportunities for blind people, Calhoun was once again able to get back on the track.

Also, U.S. Army veteran Brett Bondurant, who lost both legs in 2011, was able to take a two seater ride.

All three men said their rides were amazing and were grateful for the experience.
