5 Things to know about the weekend forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – As the Indianapolis 500 approaches, the weather is one factor that can play a major role on the outcome of the race.  Before heading out to enjoy the race or any of the activities related to the “greatest spectacle in racing”, here are five things you need to know about the weekend forecast.

1) Like the previous few days, rain will be mentioned in the forecast for Saturday, but there will be many dry hours across central Indiana. Best rain chances will be in the afternoon, with potential for some heavy rain makers.

2) More of the same for race day, Sunday. A few showers could be possible in the morning, with a higher chances for showers and storms in the late afternoon.

3) There is a marginal risk for severe storms for the northeastern quarter of the state on Sunday. Large hail will be the primary concern, but expect heavy rain and frequent lightning with any storm that develops.

4) Warm and muggy conditions will continue through Memorial Day, with highs in the mid 80s, and temperatures will feel like the upper80s to around 90°.

5) Rain should move out for the Memorial Day holiday, with drier air briefly moving in. Rain chances return to the forecast by Wednesday.
