TV reporter arrested for defecating on lawn while on assignment

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (NEWS10) – Police say Jonathan Lowe, a reporter for KPHO in Phoenix, was arrested Monday afternoon for defecating on a front lawn while out on an assignment.

According to the New York Daily News, a neighbor spotted 33-year-old Lowe leaning against the wall of a house and relieving himself.

Police say Lowe admitted to using the yard as an impromptu toilet.

“I know what you want to talk to me about. I’ve been feeling very sick and I’ve been stuck in this van all day,” Lowe said, according to a police report.

“Those people who called on me just wanted to start problems.”

When officers responding to the scene knocked on his news van, Lowe told them, “I know what you want to talk to me about.”

He told cops he wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want to bother anyone by knocking on their door to use the bathroom.

The woman who owned the lawn in question understandably says she would have rather Lowe heeded nature’s call in her actual bathroom, if he had only asked.

Lowe was arrested for public defecation and now faces a fine of $2,500 or six months in jail for the misdemeanor.

According to a statement from KPHO’s news director, he has since been fired from his job.
